POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the mine geology team, you will provide geological support for mine production and exploration. You will be responsible for supporting short to long-range mine plans through the production of regular geological and block model updates of high quality, as well as production reporting and mining reconciliation against geological models. You will also be responsible for new target generation and planning for diamond drill testing in pursuit of additional ore zones.

You will also assume a leadership role when the chief mine geologist is off site and provide mentorship to team members on a continual basis.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements of the position:

• Bachelor’s degree in a geological discipline
• A minimum of 10 years of related geological experience in an underground structurally complex mining environment
• Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
• Strong structural geology knowledge and the ability to use this knowledge to support the mining operation from the production and exploration perspective
• A solid understanding of production reconciliation
• Strong computer skills and fully functional in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and effectively use Vulcan 3D visualization and modeling software
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills

• Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft

In 2010 the NWMO initiated the community-driven process to identify the informed, willing community in which to host Canada’s deep geological repository for used nuclear fuel. Communities have begun to express interest in this national infrastructure project. This process of site selection will unfold over several years. An important part of this multi-year process will be ongoing engagement, relationship-building, development of partnerships with potentially interested communities, affected regions and Aboriginal people.

In this unique, grassroots, outreach position, you will build and foster relationships with local, provincial and national communities and stakeholders (nuclear industry contacts, national and local media, health organizations, NGOs and government officials) in support of Adapative Phased Management implementation.  The focus of the next four year period will be on identifying deep underground sites and working with potentially interested communities.  As the recognized face of NWMO your communications will support them as they move through the many steps of the process, including engagement, education, and site evaluation.  In this senior corporate position, you’ll create a communications and media plan to raise the profile of the organization and its mission.  Support the C.E.O. and senior management team with sage counsel and messaging advice.  Lead a communications team in the creation and refinement of print, website, social media and outreach events.  Develop and implement a media relations strategy.  Oversee employee communications and the support of a high performance, socially responsible corporate culture.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Generating and developing accounts in order to increase revenue, through cold calling

Horizon Oil Sands
Horizon Oil Sands is an exciting part of our growth.  Full production capacity for Phase 1 is 110,000 bbl/d of fully upgraded, light, sweet synthetic crude oil.  We will see incremental production gains throughout the completion of future expansion and debottlenecking, with targeted full facility capacity of approximately 250,000 bbl/d.  Further phases of expansion will bring the ultimate capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.

• Share your experience and technical mine planning expertise to advance and optimize the Horizon Oil Sands open pit mine

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Mobile Equipment Superintendent  will be responsible for working with a team of Expatriate and National Maintenance Personnel to improve the maintenance of the extensive fleet of Heavy Duty Equipment.  Included in his responsibilities will be improvement and sustainability  of sustainability of a comprehensive maintenance planning and scheduling system.  He will identify and assist in implementation of reliability improvements focused on increased equipment availability and reduced life cycle costs.  He will interface closely with the Mine Manager to ensure maximum sustainable cost effective production from the Mine. 

The Mobile Equipment Superintendent  is expected to promote the Behavior Based Safety Program; participate in the and active involvement in the training and development programs for National staff.

A Maintenance Professional, with a tertiary qualification, and  a minimum of 6-8 years recent senior supervisory experience is required.  We would expect that the person would have experience from at least 2/3 similar size operations using CAT heavy equipment. Experience in maintenance planning, failure analysis, preventative and predictive maintenance will be an asset. The ideal candidate will be a self motivated individual with a high degree of integrity.  Prior experience in a FSU country, or developing countries, would be advantageous.

This is a resident position, located in Bishkek, the capital city of the Kyrgyz Republic in Central Asia, though the incumbent will work and live at the mine site during the 9 day on 5 day off work schedule.  The Kumtor gold mine, a 160,000 BCM operation  is situated at  4000m in the Tien Shan Mountains in the Kyrgyz Republic.

We are seeking an experienced open-hole wireline engineer, preferably with exposure to mining environments, to work in our Canadian operations. As an experienced wireline engineer you will be required to either work alone or as part of a small team and be responsible for running our wireline logging units and recording data from a range of geophysical wireline tools and directional drillhole surveying equipment.

The corporate language is English but fluency in French would be a great advantage.

Diavik Diamond Mines (DDMI) owns Rio Tinto’s interest in and manages the unincorporated Diavik diamonds joint venture in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Mining takes place in the lake bed at Lac de Gras with water held back by a dike made of rock fill. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Underground Mine Technical Services, the Planner, Long Range (UG) will either be on a 14-days-on / 14-days-off  or 7-days-on/7-days-off rotational basis at the Lac de Gras mine site. The Planner, Long Range, Underground develops and presents mining scenarios to assist DDMI senior management in examining business strategies for the Diavik diamond mine and creates long term production schedules (1 year to life of mine) that guide mine short- and mid-term planning.
 
The Planner, Long Range (UG) responsibilities include but are not limited to;
• Produce working mine designs that are accurate, practical, consistent with industry practice, and in compliance with recommended design guidelines and applicable codes and regulations.
• Provide well-documented and clearly-communicated realistic and workable mining schedules in a timely manner which assists decision making on mine production for operations and senior leaders.
• Collaborate with staff across departments to develop the Diavik 1-, 2- & 5-year and longer-term (life of mine) mining schedules and periodic updates, and give guidance to short-term mine planners on 3-month mine plans.
• Support ongoing planning (with/by others) of workforce and equipment requirements, operating consumables, mine services (e.g. pumping, materials handling), mine development and infrastructure, and associated activities such as winter road and mine closure planning.
• Assist the Senior Engineer in maintaining and optimizing the Diavik Integrated Life of Mine Plan.
• Participate in various other strategic studies undertaken within the Mine Technical Service Department
• Help with capital expenditure and operating budgeting in terms of quantity and cost estimations for labour, equipment and consumables arising from mine planning.
