Founded in 1970, Mainland Sand & Gravel is one of the three largest aggregate producers in British Columbia, and proudly 100% BC owned and operated.
Mainland has the second largest hard rock pit in Canada; produced three million metric tonnes in 2012, with reserves projected to last another 50 to 75 years; making it one of the largest permitted reserves for aggregate in the Vancouver area. The river and barge accessibility of the Cox Station Quarry represent a distinct advantage. Mainland’s Cox Station Quarry has consistently been one of the top aggregate producing operations in Canada.

You will have extensive experience with the effective –and safe – use of equipment to keep the cost per tonne low, while ensuring that the mine site equipment remains in good mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical health. You will promote hard rock quarry best practices for quality control and safety, ensuring the quarry remains within the standards of compliance, including all permits and environmental requirements.

You will be instrumental in the development and implementation of budgets, cost measurement systems, and strategic plans; as well as managing all capital projects and equipment purchases associated with the quarry. It will be paramount that you build strong trustworthy relationships with your unionized force of employees, as well as with the Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), not to mention your suppliers, head-office team and customers.

As a seasoned quarry manager, you bring a powerful tool box to the table. You are technically apt, a critical thinker, and an effective team leader. You lead by example, one of strong work ethic and integrity. Because of this, you are a respected, trusted, and valued team player, with an uncanny strength for connecting with individuals at all levels. Your long range planning skills enable you to grow the business.
