Salary $83,190 – $116,465 annually
The Director is a key Ministry contact with the mineral exploration and mining industry in Vancouver and plays the primary role in distributing and marketing technical geoscience products of the BC Geological Survey; and leads the Ministry’s technical marketing efforts to promote investment in British Columbia’s mineral and coal resources.
The Director manages the BC Geological Survey’s Mineral Development Office (MDO) and provides advice to senior government officials and supports industry clients. Responsibilities include proactively providing information and assistance to industry stakeholders; building and using an extensive network of stakeholders to track the health and trends of the minerals industry in BC; preparing major presentations for large audiences of senior industry and/or government executives; preparing technical marketing materials including co-ordination of the geoscience outputs of the Regional Geologists program; organizing government geoscience activities in Vancouver; monitoring competing jurisdictions; and providing occasional technical expertise to other Provincial Ministry agencies to incoming/outgoing trade missions to enhance economic development in the mining sector.
Superior presentation and communication skills combined with an effective collaborative approach are essential in this position as you lead and manage a multi-faceted technical campaign to highlight the Province’s mineral potential and high quality geoscience databases.
