Title of position: Environmental Engineer
Job duties: Responsible for bridging the gaps between engineering, environmental, existing contaminated sites and contemplated remediation/closure concepts to develop and track progress for a sustainable environmental plan. Coordinate with company personnel and external consultants in respect of surface and groundwater, fish and fish habitat, remediation of legacy contaminated sites, and enhancement of soil fertility. Develop, implement, track and report on sustainability goals, objectives and results internally and externally.
Terms of employment: contract position for 12 months, extendable to up to 24 months
Wage: C$69,000 per annum for 37.5 hour work week.
Benefits package being offered (if applicable): 15 days’ vacation per annum. Participation in the company’s extended health benefit program. Eligibility for annual performance bonus and stock options (if any).
Location of activity (local area, city or town): Vancouver based, but regular travel, potentially for 1-2 week periods, between Vancouver, US offices (Boise, Idaho and Donnelly, Idaho) and project site (located 50 miles east of McCall, Idaho).
Education: At least Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Environmental Engineering, with instruction in water resource management, soil protection engineering, contaminated site remediation, soil fertility evaluations and the principles of sustainable development.
Other Skills: Good interpersonal skills, with ability to coordinate with multiple departments and disciplines, strong desire to excel in a team oriented environment. Good communication skills, including fluency in spoken and written English a requirement; same skills in German would be an asset when communicating with investors from Switzerland and Germany.
Work experience: Some exposure to managing on-site and off-site contracts and contractors (including environmental remediation of contaminated sites) and supervising field compliance with permits; preferably some field experience with groundwater testing and modelling for ongoing baseline programs.
