Cigar Lake Operation
POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of Cameco’s geologist-in-training (G.I.T.) program is to develop recent geology or geological engineering graduates into well-rounded, knowledgeable professionals that can grow with Cameco. The G.I.T. will work on a rotational basis at our Saskatoon offices, with the exploration department and/or mineral resource management, as well as at the McArthur River operation, Rabbit Lake operation and/or Cigar Lake operation.
You will work with a team of professionals throughout the G.I.T. development program. You will hold positions of increasing responsibility while obtaining practical experience in the field. You will also be required to work closely with operations and engineering personnel.
You will be assigned to the Cigar Lake operation for the first rotation of the G.I.T program. In this developmental role, you will be exposed to drill programs, geological and geotechnical core logging, underground mapping, and computer modeling, as well as geoscientific data collection and geological database compilation and management.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements of the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology or geological engineering
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
- Previous experience with exploration or in a mine geology work environment
