Our Thompson, Manitoba site is currently seeking a:
Mining Design Engineer
The Opportunity:
The successful candidate will be a member of the Mines Engineering department at one of our three underground mines providing accurate planning and scheduling for the mine department. The successful candidate must be able to build and maintain relationships and interact with other technical staff, supervision, and hourly employees. The position will involve regular trips underground to visit areas of responsibility.
Accountabilities:
-Produce infrastructure and production designs for an assigned mining complex
-Provide engineering expertise to achieve short and long term mining plans
-Maintain a schedule of key activities and actively participate in process improvement efforts
-Conduct feasibility analysis of mineral zones
-Assess risks associated with engineering designs
-Conduct work using up to date knowledge of underground mine engineering practices
-Mentor and train junior engineering staff
-Comply with company and legislated policies and regulations
Education:
-Undergraduate Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering
-Must be registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng. in Manitoba
Experience:
-Solid background in underground hard rock mining
-Strong computer skills are needed
-Experience with 3D mine design software (Vulcan preferred – Training will be provided)
-Knowledge and usage of MS Office would be an asset.
