Our Thompson, Manitoba site is currently seeking a:
Planner – Construction (Civil Engineering Technologist)
The Planner is accountable for producing and editing mine construction drawings as a member of the Mines Engineering department.
Accountabilities:
-Create, modify, and refine cad construction drawings.
-Produce bill of materials from drawings.
-Order supplies.
-Inspect construction sites.
-Communicate with contractors and construction crews.
-Participate in construction planning meetings.
-Recommend improvements to engineering designs.
-Demonstrate safe behavior.
Education:
The ideal candidate will possess:
-Diploma in Mining or Civil Technology or High school diploma with strong skills in math and computer usage.
Experience:
-2 years of work experience as a technologist or technician OR approximately 5 to 10 years of experience in the mining field including mining construction is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
-Project Management experience.
-Experience in construction estimation and inspection.
-Knowledge of mine construction and ability to work with and modify technical drawings.
-Working knowledge of mine process.
-Demonstrates safe behavior.
-Practical knowledge of emergency systems.
-Understanding of Team Leadership/Team Membership principles.
-Knowledge of front line planning and scheduling.
-Demonstrates effective communication skills.
-Computer Skills (MS Office, Vulcan, AutoCAD, Microstation, Datamine, Gemcom safety search and Ellipse).
