POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a key member of the divisional safety, health, environment and quality team, you provide oversight to the fuel services safety and medical programs, ensuring consistency and compliance with regulations, standards as well as Cameco policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include performing internal procedural compliance assessments, implementing or assisting with implementation of new corporate health and safety standards, conducting investigations and inspections of work areas, ensuring work practices and equipment at all fuel services sites to meet or exceed health and safety standards, participating in health and safety committees as a fuel services representative, ensuring the medical program meets or exceeds expectations and stays within or below budget, liaise with ESDC, WSIB and other regulators as required, provide guidance and technical support to other departments as well as managing day to day issues as they arise. It is imperative that you communicate with sites safety departments to understand their needs.
This position will maintain two office locations with the main office out of the Port Hope conversion facility and the secondary office located at Cameco Fuel Manufacturing – Port Hope.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
You are results oriented leader, and a critical thinker with excellent communication skills.
Requirements of the position:
• Minimum of five years related experience in an industrial environment
• Certified Registered Safety Professional
• Demonstrated record of continual improvement in the occupational health and safety field
• Experience gained from within a continuous operation in a unionized environment
