A challenging opportunity currently exists in the Alberta Mines Department reporting to the Mine Operations Manager. As a site engineer, you will support safe and efficient mine operations and ensure an optimum coal blend is being delivered to the generating plants. You will also interact on a daily basis with mine operations, engineering and power plant personnel.

This position is located at our AB Coal Plants approximately 70km west of Edmonton.


Responsibilities:
• Mine operations management including utilization of mine equipment, optimization of coal recoveries and quality, monitoring the day to day activities of the mine contractor at both the Highvale Mine
• Leading and/or supporting various capital and operating projects
• Project management including upgrading or replacing site infrastructure, new equipment purchases and existing equipment rebuilds
• Fuel management through liaison with plant and mine personnel and optimization of plant performance
• Supervision/management of contractors that work on site, safety, productivity and cost control.

Qualifications:
• Mining/Civil engineer with 2 plus years of experience or Technologist with equivalent experience.
• Professional engineer or EIT status with APEGGA or a member of ASET.
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and supervision for project groups, contractors and consultants.
• Strong customer focus.
• Communication skills that foster effective interaction with multiple groups.
• Related work experience in mining areas.
