Area Manager (2017-2619)

Redpath Canada Limited, an international mining contractor, is looking for a seasoned project manager.
Position: Area Manager
Location: Rouyn-Noranda, QC and North Bay, ON
Work Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Area Manager is responsible for Redpath’s contracting activities within the incumbent’s designated business unit(s). This position manages all aspects of the business unit with regards to: accountability for Health and Safety, contract performance and management development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs inception and set-up of site specific safety programs with support from the Health & Safety department
Establishes personal safety standards at each project through regular meetings and site visits
Reviews regulatory inspection reports and responses
Participates in tender process to acquire new business
Accountable for successful start-up of new projects by organizing kick-off meetings, establishing HSE standards and KPIs, partnering with HR and procurement to ensure adequate resources are in place
Accountable for the performance of the projects – monitor, drive and improve performance
Responsible for identification and development of future supervisors/managers
Advocate for innovation and improvement in mine processes
Ensures policies and procedures are implemented
Plays key role in contract and client relationships, is the “face” of Redpath in the area
Accountable for marketing and business development in the business area
Education and Experience:
Post-secondary education with extensive experience and training
- 10 years of related experience and responsibility in a similar environment or a combination of education and progressive related experience/responsibility with at least 3 years in a Project Superintendent role.
Project Management and Controls knowledge
Possess strong mining skills and contracting experience
Capable of financial analysis
Able to develop subordinates
Requires exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with clients, peers and subordinates
Possess sound regulatory knowledge of areas operating in
- Bi- or multilingualism an asset.
