Job Summary:

Under the supervisor of the Mine Superintendent, the primary role of the Control Room Technician is to provide effective communication of the daily priorities and ensure these priorities are achieved by assisting the production supervisors in allocating resources as required. Liaise and collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance groups to achieve daily production targets.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective communication of the daily priorities and ensure these priorities are being achieved by assisting the production supervisors in allocating resources as required.

  • Liaise and collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance groups to achieve daily production targets.

  • Management of multiple site automation systems which include (and not limited to): underground ventilation (VOD system), blasting process, underground pumping systems, surface discharge to the environment, control of CRF plant, management of power consumption, fixed equipment, teleoperation, equipment monitoring, site camera, and gate monitoring.

  • Ensure procedures and policies are followed during all blasting activities (underground tag board monitoring, starting/shutting down of fans, opening/closing of ventilation controls).

  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures as required by the underground.

  • Participate in all pre-shift daily meetings.

  • Fill out production templates, tracking sheets and maintain daily call-in sheets.

  • Collecting information- observing, receiving and obtaining information from all relevant sources.

  • Monitor Processes, Materials and/or surroundings- Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.

  • Oversee the operation of all teleoperation processes (mucking, long-hole drilling, AGS clearing, hammer, and winch).

  • Maintain records for the control room, utilize data to analyze various systems and promote continuous improvement.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Minimum secondary school diploma, post-secondary education in mining preferred

  • Good understanding and working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations for Mines & Mining Plants, U/G mine rescue techniques, WHIMS, and Loss Control Principles.

  • Facilitator Training (Asset)

  • Proficient computer literacy

  • Well-developed communication skills, (oral, written, presentation)

  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with training programs & Internal Responsibility System (IRS)

Health & Safety:

  • Participate in a Safety Meeting monthly (minimum).

  • Actively promote a healthy & safe work environment to ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Government Acts and Regulations and company policies and procedures are adhered to.

  • Practice and promote the Internal Responsibility System (IRS)
