- FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (Ontario)
- Permis Général d’Explosifs or able to obtain one as soon as possible

- Valid drivers permit
Job Summary:
The primary role of the Construction Miner is to complete assigned construction tasks efficiently with little to no supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspect existing underground headings to ensure the workplace is safe and assigned construction tasks can be executed safely and to design specifications.

Use of scaling bars, pneumatic hand-held drills, cutting and welding equipment, rubber-tired underground mobile equipment such as LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) units, scissor trucks, boom truck, shotcrete sprayers and other support vehicles in a confined environment

Complete shift end reports and red ink prints to ‘as built’ status

Required Skills and Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
-
Basic literacy (read, write, basic math and read blue prints) required
-
3 years’ experience in a related construction role

Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent) (preferred)
Required Specialty Modules: U0085a, U0085b, U0085c & U0086 (or other provincial equivalent) (preferred)

CWB Certified (preferred)

Ability to multi task and work effectively

Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently

Ability to make decisions quickly

Knowledge of mining industry

Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment

Ability to read, review and understand Standard Work Procedures, safety programs and applicable mine regulations construction prints

Must have the ability to adapt to change

Good communication skills
Health and Safety:

Have the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment

Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor

Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e. PPE, lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.

Ensure permits are in place and lock 0ut tag out procedures are followed
-
Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.

Ensure that workers are qualified and capable to safely performing the assigned work
-
Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.

Work in accordance with local legislation
