Field Service /Quality Technician

We are seeking an ambitious, self-motivated Field Service/Quality Technician to join our mining equipment team.  Travel will be required throughout North America and parts of Latin America to both develop and deliver customer services relating to mine hoists, shaft conveyances, rope attachments, sheaves, ore loading stations and other equipment used in underground mining.  You will be joining a dynamic team of professionals and a world class company with a highly respected, long and successful history in mining.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate mine hoist and mine shaft equipment condition. Our scope encompasses the whole mine shaft hoisting system.
  • Write reports for customers including recommendations regarding necessary or beneficial equipment repairs, modifications, upgrades and modernizations.
  • Field troubleshoot mine hoisting systems and recommend remedial actions.
  • Conduct or supervise field maintenance and repair activities.
  • Conduct or supervise field equipment installation, commissioning and start up activities.
  • Conduct equipment quality inspections and tests and issue certifications at suppliers.
  • Sell and execute service contracts and have close association with sales team.
  • Build and maintain a strong customer rapport.
  • Quality inspection of in-process and final inspections, expediting and be accountability for comprehensive quality documentation.
  • Exceptional knowledge of welding /fabrication practices (Certified Welding Inspector an asset)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Quality management system including ISO 9001:2015


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will have several years of closely related work experience and deep knowledge of heavy rotating equipment used in underground mining environments.  They will have a sound hands-on knowledge of underground mining methods and processes related to vertical shaft mining.

As a minimum, candidates should be deemed a “Competent Person” according to Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants in particular as it relates to Part X of the regulations.

The successful applicant will have a basic understanding of mine hoist plant control systems.
