Rotation:

2 week in 2 weeks out

Shift Length:

12 hours

Provided from airport closest to point of hire

Pre-employment requirement

  • 2 years’ experience as a certified Boom Truck Operator in an underground mining setting

  • H.I.T.E Boom Truck certification (Preferred)

  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)

  • Required Modules: U0024 and U0068 (or other provincial equivalent)

 

Scope of work:

The provision of labour and equipment for the ramp and lateral development - 6,500 meters of lateral development - ore wast past 3x3, 193 meters in total. 2 Alimak raises 3x3, 140 meters in total, 225 meters of vent raises 6x6

 

Job Summary:

 

Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the primary role of Boom Truck Operator is to perform lifts of varying nature in an approved manner consistent with current OH&S practices. Additionally, Boom Truck Operator must maintain accurate driving log books, perform routine maintenance checks on boom truck and assume other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Shift Supervisor.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

General:

  • Refuel, check coolant and engine and hydraulic oils, lubricate all points and complete standard daily check forms and drives equipment to and from work area

  • Operate traffic control signals where applicable and respond to signals to prevent a vehicle accident

  • Set up, service and operate hydraulic booms that are mounted on turrets that are affixed to trucks and are capable of moving heavy loads.

  • Manipulate a number of pedals and levers to rotate the crane and raise and lower loads.

  • Completes daily log book on equipment and submits written and verbal reports

  • Report progress and any unusual occurrences to supervisor

  • Maintains working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition

  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience as a certified Boom Truck Operator in an underground mining setting

  • H.I.T.E Boom Truck certification (Preferred)

  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)

  • Required Modules: U0024 and U0068 (or other provincial equivalent

 

Health and Safety:

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment

  • Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor

  • Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e.  Lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.

  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.

  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet
