Tundra is seeking a Maintenance Manager in our Virden, Manitoba office.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible to:

  • Responsible for managing activities of the Tundra Oil & Gas (TOG) Maintenance Team to support the annual business plan goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for planning, coordination, and direction of all maintenance group operations, up to and including installation of new equipment, preventative maintenance, and facility/equipment repair.
  • Ensures production equipment is maintained in a manner that meets organization standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime.
  • Establishes and maintains preventive maintenance programs, procedures, and training programs.
  • Responsible for promoting the safety program, and participate in the development of safe work practices.
  • Responsible for both the mechanical and instrumentation departments.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and has the ability to mentor team members.
  • Provide vision and annual goals & objectives for the Maintenance Group. Track progress toward those goals & objectives.
  • Review and introduce effective preventative maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are executed properly & tracked using the Maintenance Management System.
  • Move to Predictive Maintenance programs and practices where beneficial.
  • Collaborate with Production Foreman, Assistant Foremen, and Lead Operators to deliver the required support for their areas.
  • Participate in the troubleshooting & resolution of difficult equipment deficiencies.
  • Participate and adhere to the procurement & inventory standards.
  • Participate in facility design/project reviews & hazops.
  • Provide recommendations for production and facility optimization.
  • Responsible for creating a maintenance budget.
  • Selection and supervision of maintenance contractors.
  • Responsible for performance management for all direct reports.
  • Responsible for promoting the safety program, and participate in the development of safe work practices.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance matters related to equipment maintenance are addressed promptly.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all direct reports receive the required training and development.
  • Monitor operating costs relating to maintenance.


Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Post-Secondary education in either a trade, technical or engineering field.
  • Experience in preventative maintenance and asset management programming.
  • Requires extensive technical knowledge of facilities and equipment.
  • Requires 8 or more years of experience in maintenance, manufacturing support, or production.
  • Must be disciplined with strong organization and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop & lead subordinates.
  • Ability to manage people effectively.
  • Sound decision making skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra’s Safety Policy.
  • Responsible to ensure direct reports follow safety rules and procedures.
