Job Description:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the management of the Procurement and Logistics department for the purposes of ensuring Redpath Procurement and Logistics needs are met in a professional manner. The position is accountable for the short and long term effectiveness of the Procurement and Logistics department. The purpose of the Procurement and Logistics department is to add value to the bottom line by providing excellent service to its internal customers, managing supplier relationships and utilizing efficient business processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage personnel within the Procurement and Logistics group to ensure business objectives are met

  • Review employee training needs and ensure required employee training is available and completed

  • Determine department current and future staffing requirements and ensure personnel requirements are filled

  • Ensure adequate systems are in place to allow utilization of efficient business processes

  • Understanding the business process as it relates to Procurement and Logistics and translate the needs into deliverables

  • Sourcing and negotiating purchases, negotiating vendor alliances, identifying problems with lead times, and developing an effective Procurement and Logistics strategy

  • Manage and maintain positive supplier relationships

  • Develop and manage logistics including shipping, warehousing and inventory control

  • Responsible for major mobilizations and project de-mobilizations, including in other regions where Redpath works as maybe needed.

  • Responsible for sale of surplus assets

  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

  • The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive




  • 5 years' experience, preferably in mining or related industry with a strong operational focus on project work
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills focused on delivered an effective supply chain function to projects, internal customers and our client


  • 8+ years related experience holding a Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP), Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or equivalent Canadian recognized designation is desirable

Computer skills:

  • Experience working in an ERP environment i.e. J.D. Edwards
  • MS Office
  • Insight Console
  • SharePoint


Knowledge Required:


  • Knowledge of Business systems and modern business processes

  • Knowledge of the mining industry including major suppliers of mining equipment

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Company business plans

  • Possess open-mindedness

  • Willingness to change processes

  • Superior interpersonal skills

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service

  • Ability to effectively manage supplier relationships

  • Knowledge and understanding of the markets and market trends

  • Possess a keen sense of business judgment

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Team player
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French is an asset
