Mechanical Clerk – Canadian Royalties (2020-4038)

Job Description


Project:                       Canadian Royalties International

Location:                    Nunavik Nickel Mine, Northern Quebec (100km south of Deception Bay, 1800km north of Montréal), Canada

Rotation:                    3 weeks on - 3 weeks off

Shift Length:              12 hours

Travel:                         Employee is responsible for travel to Chartered flight either Val d'Or or Montreal 

Accommodation:       Isolated Camp - permafrost conditions

Job Description

The Mechanical Clerk is responsible for assisting in the implementation of inventory control from set up, changes, reporting, and procedures for reordering.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Business or Accounting
  • Preferred: Degree or Diploma in Business with Supply Chain and Logistics Management
  • 1-3 years’ related experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control, warehousing, or Procurement
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, JD Edwards, Insight Console, Share Point, etc)
  • Possess organizational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of cost accounting methods and financial management
  • Knowledge of mining industry, mining equipment, and consumables (asset)
  • Knowledge and understanding of complexity in shipping to and from remote areas and other countries
  • Ability to multi-task and identify priorities
  • Possess a high level of communication and interpersonal skill
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and able to adjust to shifting priorities
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Make necessary changes to inventory items (i.e. change in price, Reorder Point (ROP) & Reorder Quantity (ROQ))
  • Work with vendors to get pricing and lead times/stocking locations
  • Issue items to projects upon receipt of orders (pick orders and ship to proper destination)
  • Conduct cycle counts semi-annually or as required
  • Generate and analyze weekly Inventory Reports
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

Health and Safety:

  • Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective
  • Work in accordance with local legislation


Pre-employment Requirements:


  • FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (Ontario)
  • Permis Général d’Explosifs or able to obtain one as soon as possible
  • Drug test
  • Medical
  • Valid drivers permit
