Job Description
Empire State Mines is currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Mine Planning Engineer at its
underground zinc operation. This position is based at the Empire State Mine site in northern New York
State.

Responsibilities:
Execution of tasks related to various fields of mine design and layout, long-term and short-term
planning, geotechnical and special projects, and an emphasis on mine ventilation design and
monitoring;
Develop and update mine plans to keep operations on budget targets and within the long-range
plan. Track progress of mine designs, ventilation and ground support ensuring accuracy;
Provide technical support for all aspects of Mine Operations including u/g monitoring for
ventilation and geotechnical purposes;
Ensure all reporting is accurately submitted in a timely manner and complies with all state and
federal regulations;
Communicate effectively with direct supervisor, and Geology and Production departments.
Qualifications:
BS/BA degree in Mining, Geological, or Civil Engineering; and ability to work in the US;
3-5 years of experience in underground mine engineering, preferably in narrow-vein mines;
Valuable theoretical and practical experience in ventilation and ground control is essential;
Experience with 3D modeling and mine planning software; proficiency in use of VentSim 3-D
Mine Ventilation, Vulcan, Deswik, AutoCAD, and PROMINE is an advantage;
Skill in written and verbal communication (in English), critical thinking and data analysis.
