Mines Health Safety & Enforcement Division Career Opportunities

The Mines Health Safety and Enforcement Division (MHSE) manages and facilitates the responsible development of BC’s mineral resources. MHSE’s main focuses are: ensuring safe and environmentally responsible mineral exploration, mine development and closure; providing timely permitting decisions; fostering a positive and supportive environment for staff; implementing the Premier’s Jobs Plan commitments and contributing to the achievement of the Province’s social, economic and environmental goals.

MHSE has 3 career opportunities available with 5 openings:

Senior Inspector of Mines – Health & Safety Specialist (LSO 4/STO 30) located in Victoria – this position is the Ministry professional on mine safety and for ensuring compliance and enforcement of health and safety under the delegated authority of the Mines Act and the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines (HSR) in British Columbia. There are 3 vacancies currently available. This position is offered as Licensed Scientific Officer and Scientific Technical Officer classifications.

Inspector of Mines – Health and Safety (LSO 3/STO 27) can be located in Victoria, Cranbrook, Prince George, Kamloops or Smithers – this position conducts investigations, inspections, audits, enforces actions for health and safety non-compliance, and provides expert advice. This position is offered as Licensed Scientific Officer and Scientific Technical Officer classifications.

Inspector of Mines – Electrical (LSO 3/STO 27) can be located in Victoria, Cranbrook, Prince George, Kamloops or Smithers – this position conducts mine audits, investigates accidents or breaches, determines actions for non-compliance, reviews mine plans, sets health and safety permit conditions and contributes to related policies and programs.  This position is offered as Licensed Scientific Officer and Scientific Technical Officer classifications.
