Project Controllers/Schedulers (2018-2986)

Job Description

Redpath is seeking Project Controllers and Schedulers for upcoming projects in Canada.

 

The Project Controller is responsible for the planning and performance monitoring of assigned project(s), including providing guidance to the Project Manager through the implementation of project controls processes and procedures. The incumbent must be able to understand contracts, track performance daily, weekly, and monthly, incorporate quantitative and qualitative analysis, and to define both the physical and the economic performance of the projects and recommend action to be take should deviations from the optimal performance be highlighted.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and define the cost and schedule control baselines for projects, including the development of project execution plans, project specific controls procedures and to assist management.
  • Administrative set-up of new projects, including timekeeping, reporting, chart of accounts and document management.
  • Participate in compiling, updating and tracking project costs and schedules using the software tools.
  • Monitor and support the proper use of the code of accounts on the project.
  • Ensure the Management of Change process is maintained and integrated with Redpath’s policies, procedures and contracts.
  • Compile and maintain construction change orders and/or claims, including associated registers.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships within the project team and with the Client.
  • Demonstrate clear and visible commitment to The Redpath Group’s philosophies and guidelines for success at all times.
  • Ensure that the project is carried out in compliance with the Client’s, Redpath’s and jurisdictionally legislated health, safety, and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • University degree in related scientific, business or engineering field. Individuals with a Construction Management or Quantity Surveying degree are also encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in field or office-based controls experience related to underground construction projects or operational mining environment.
  • Experience with Primavera P6.
  • Experience with Project Cost Management systems such as Ineight Hard Dollar Estimating and Project Performance modules.

 

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Good knowledge of software tools (Primavera, Hard Dollar, MS Office).
  • Good understanding of general business interfaces/process as related to procurement, human resources, procurement, engineering, operations, and accounting.
  • Able to understand and interpret contracts and subcontracts.
  • Extensive knowledge of cost and schedule management
  • Proven leadership skills and abilities.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to facilitate team commitment.
  • Culturally mature – able to work with personnel with different cultural backgrounds.
  • Multilingualism an asset (English or French).

The Scheduler is responsible for the effective execution of all scheduled work control processes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The efficient and effective planning and scheduling to ensure minimum downtime and maximum productivity.
  • To manage work priority, develop job plans, define parts and material, define crafts and skills and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective and efficient work control plan.
  • Responsible for initial identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning and incorporation into the project schedule
  • Conducts field walk downs to identify and document job planning/scheduling requirements.
  • Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • University degree in a related scientific, business or engineering field. Individuals with a Construction Management or Quantity Surveying degree are also encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate field and/or office based project scheduling, estimating or controls experience related to underground construction projects or operational mining environment
  • Experience and proficiency with Primavera P6 v15 or later.
  • Experience with Project Cost Management systems such as Hard Dollar will be preferable.
