Regional Geologist
$65,367.78 – $81,773.78 annually

The Regional Geologist position facilitates the development of mineral resources using advanced and seasoned knowledge and judgment to balance the best interests of the mining industry and the public.

The Regional Geologist will be called upon to work with industry, First Nations and the public on matters from the strategic to the operational. Job satisfaction is high, and you would be joining a motivated, experienced and happy team. The Regional Geologist will develop and maintain professional relationships with a network of technical experts, and to hold their own and offer valuable insights to prospectors, geologists and senior exploration managers. This position requires travel to project locations throughout the North West, often to remote mountain areas. The Regional Geologist is someone who is physically able to operate in the outdoors in a variety of environments and terrains, and be able to travel by helicopter, and access sites using ladders and underground workings.

This region has a wide variety of terrains and associated economic geology, including porphyries, VMS, jade, coal and hard rock and placer gold, with exploration and mining projects offering access to all levels of the deposit types. This is an outstanding opportunity for a geologist, as is it has the mandate to consider the geology from the tectonic to the project scale and cooperate with both companies and the geological survey.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience in mineral exploration, mining geology or government geosciences.
  • Registered or immediately eligible* for registration as a Professional Geologist with the British Columbia Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists.

*Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a professional in another Canadian jurisdiction or another BC professional association referred to above, and able to transfer that membership to a BC professional association within 6 months of employment. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have their qualifications reviewed by the appropriate body to ensure they have the necessary requirements for registration.

  • Experience and knowledgeable with a broad range of computer software such as MS Office, GIS, graphics packages, MapPlace, and other databases to produce geological and mineral potential maps and displays materials.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire is required.
